Speakers to Outline Their Concerns About Missing Middle

2100 Clarendon Boulevard, Arlington

Former Arlington County Board Member John Vihstadt, whose election precipitated the cancellation of Arlington’s hotly debated streetcar, will present his concerns about the unintended consequences of the County’s Missing Middle proposal. Joining Vihstadt will be Diane Duston, retired realtor, who will discuss how the Missing Middle framework will eliminate moderately priced homes in Arlington and lead to more gentrification.

In addition,Peter Rousselot, Arlingtonians for Our Sustainable Future leading member; Julie Lee, a founding member of Arlingtonians for Upzoning Transparency; Kit Norland, co-founder, Arlington Tree Action Group; and Brian Casabianca, an Arlington resident who is presenting a petition to the County Board during the public comment period, will be available to answer media questions immediately following the press event.

Despite the fact that “Missing Middle” Isn’t Missing, Arlington County is rushing to approve a controversial and flawed upzoning housing plan that will allow up to 8-unit multiplexes in every residential neighborhood. County officials promote mixed messaging that has confused the public about the plan’s lack of affordability and potential impacts on community infrastructure and the environment.
